Why has a payment been collected when I joined?

When you purchase a membership, your first payment is paid from your bank card and following payments are collected by Direct Debt. This is why we ask for both your card and bank details in the sign-up process.

The 'first payment' referred to in the Direct Debit Advance Notice email, sent just after you join, is your first Direct Debit payment.

If your gym isn't open yet, paying ahead of the launch day guarantees you’ll pay the lower, promotional rate. After this payment, you won’t pay a thing until one month after the gym has opened.
